Taking a little break and then probably getting started on Long Sun. In untangling that bit, I assume it has to do with the mirroring stuff like his two deaths in UotNS, but I admit I didn’t really understand that passage. Lastly, toward the end of BotNS, Severian mentions that he’s the second Severian, that the first had already gone on to become autarch, or something like that. How does Severian end up in that tomb in the necropolis? Is it implying that will happen, just sometime in the future, or that that could have happened but won’t now? Does anyone know what he’s referring to?Īlso, as I’m sure many have asked, what is the explanation for Apu Phunchau that Wolfe hints at in the afterword? Severian mentions some story about Ymir, but he doesn’t reiterate what it was.
